Indian Ministries of North America

One morning as he was getting up for work, James A. Hughes received a vision from God. His bedroom wall appeared as a large screen displaying the faces of thousands of American Indians. He strongly felt God saying to him, "Take my Gospel to your people." This he began doing immediately. Years later, the ministry became known as Indian Ministries of North America.

After working among the Cherokee and the Lumbee in North Carolina for several years, the ministry began reaching into the Southwest during 1998. The ministry gives spiritual guidance through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Indian Ministries of North America (IMNA) was incorporated and became a 501(c)3 non-profit ministry in 2002.  During that year IMNA began an extensive benevolent ministry to help relieve some of the sufferings of life on the reservations. Due to widespread poverty and neglect, life on many of the American Indian reservations is equivalent to that of third world countries. The ministry has  developed a team of volunteer workers from several states, to minister to the Indian people through preaching and teaching the gospel, youth camps and Bible schools, recreation and sports clinics, construction and maintenance, as well as the collection of food, clothing and other household items. The ministry is presently working with eight reservations throughout Alabama, Arizona, Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico, North Carolina, and Oklahoma.

IMNA, Inc. hopes to pass the vision of its founder on to others. Representatives are available to speak at local churches, schools, businesses and civic organizations. Mission trips are scheduled several times each year and we welcome participation from all who are interested. We are continually collecting donations for our benevolence ministry and we are solely financed and supported by individuals, churches, and businesses. If you are interested in becoming a partner in this ministry, contact us today. You will surely be blessed!

Mission Statement

The mission of Indian Ministries of North America is to provide to the American Indians the full gospel as is recorded in the Holy Bible. To show them by example that true Christian living can be accomplished through the dedicating of our lives to serving God, the heavenly Father, and living according to His Holy Word.

We seek to be supportive and to encourage and equip the American Indians in their quest to grow closer to God. To help them find and develop their unique talents and spiritual gifts with a lifelong commitment to Jesus Christ and service to God. To guide them to the best of our abilities in the ways that leads to total spiritual growth.

We seek to fulfill the challenge of Christ to "go into all the world and preach the Gospel," to reach the American Indians with the Good News. Sharing in spiritual growth and caring for those who are in need is the desire of our ministry team. Reaching out to help others will create better homes, communities, and a better world to live in and raise our children.
